2024 Newsletter April – Education and Loans
Dear Loyal Supporters
Fundraising
Thank you so much to all of you who supported our Barn Dance this March in so many ways. We had new regular donors join us and raised a fantastic £1637. We put this to immediate use to fund the 2 young women, below, from very poor families who had requested funding to secondary school and college. The rest of the money we sent for desks for Ngoile primary school, where 3 or 4 children are squeezed up to desks intended for just 2 children.

Recent visit
My recent visit to Tanzania was very heart-warming because I saw so many women and families benefitting from the projects we have been funding. We give huge thanks to Robyn Nietert at Womens’ Microfinance Initiative (WMI) http://wmionline.org and Judy Lane at Maasai partners https://www.maasaipartners.org/ for all their support with our loan project, including health and adult education. Robyn and Judy visited our projects this year to a very warm reception at Olchaniomelok village:
Girls’ Education
On my visit the parents of girls we have funded to secondary school came up to thank us for our sponsorship. One mother put a necklace over my head in thanks because her daughter had passed her secondary education and is now going to train to be a teacher. I met her daughter Teresia in the market and I read the words on my necklace: ‘I love you’. I pass these words of thanks on to you all for your support.
We also give huge thanks to our trustee Suchita Raja and her family who have raised funds in memory of Suchita’s dear Mum. This amazing funding has enabled the repair of the water system at Irkeepusi dispensary, repair of broken windows at Irkeepusi primary, sponsorship of more girls to secondary school and regular funding of meals for the children at Irkeepusi primary school. The family visited the area and were able to see the projects they had funded:
We are hugely grateful for all your financial support and encouragement. Without you we could not do any of this.
As always, our expenses and administration are paid by ourselves, so all of your donations go directly to the community projects.
With much love and thanks
